      The Voting Rules

Simple answer: just vote. Your vote is your vote.

      The Fine Print

To further promote the "friendliness" of The Site Fights, You are allowed to vote for as many sites as you like. Vote for every site if you want. However, you are only allowed one(1) vote each site daily with one ISP account at a time.

Voters with multiple ISP accounts will have to register their ballots while being signed on to that particular account. E-mail addresses entered that do not match up with the ISP entering the ballot will not be counted. This is done to help ensure the validity of all votes and to help avoid improper ballot stuffing.

If you are voting from inside a network, multiple e-mail accounts from a company with one ISP, etc., YOU MUST log off after each and every vote!!

For Example:Let's say that I work for a Corporation and have 100 employees, one of which "me" is in The Site Fights. My e-mail is joan@joan.com Now all the other 99 employees of my company want to vote for me. They all have their own e-mail addresses which are on the same ISP @joan.net Each person may vote for me but, then the next person has to log off the system and then log back onto the system in order for the vote to count. If they do not log off each and every time, this is considered Ballot Stuffing, which is a big no-no!!

All votes must be registered via an electronic ballot.

Though score updates may vary depending on team, times voting booths throughout all teams are open at the same time. Booths reset each day (set by Eastern Standard Time).

      The Ten Point System

It is a scale of 1 to 10 (a curve), and based on votes received for that site. Highest vote count for that day receives a 10, second place a 9, continuing downward as need be. Daily scores are added together and the highest point totals for that week move on to the next level of competition. If a site earns the title The Site Fights Champion, it has an opportunity to compete with other top champions in "The Site Fights Fighter of the Year" Competition (SFOTY), which will be held at the beginning of the next year. Only Site Fights Champions are be invited to participate.
**Philosophy behind this explanation of vote counts is further down on this page. ;)

      The Matt Rule

After a site wins the title, Sight Fights Champion, it is allowed the opportunity to defend the title with the next Dome participants. After winning the DMan Dome, the site vacates the Site Fights title, and may retire as a DMan Dome winner or start again. Winner(s) are invited to the "The Site Fights Fighter of the Year" Competition.
Note: Regardless if title won is defended, all sites which win once in the Dome for that year are invited to participate in the SFOTY competition.

And to all future Site Fighters out there

This title isn't given by a committee or even The Site Fights. It's earned and decided by the opinions that matter most--visitors from all over the Internet(web). So, if you want to find out how your site really rates, and you are willing to let the People decide: put [your site] to The Site Fights challenge. This [competition] is where David can beat Goliath, if the "Spirit" is within him.

      What does this all mean?

This all adds up to the most exciting interactive fun the Internet has to offer. Whether you enjoy visiting great sites, or showing off your own site. The Site Fights is a "Place for Everyone". Our 80% Book mark ratio says so!

Deeper Explanation of the 10-point System

Over the course of 10 years, people have asked, "why do we use the '10-point system'?"

In explanation, here are some situational examples:
Let's say you received 100 votes, and your opponent received 85. Your opponent would feel pretty bad. If they're a friend of yours, you would be sympathetic.
Worse yet, what if they only received 5 to your 100...
would they be more compelled to keep trying, or to "throw in the towel" right then and there?

It makes good sense to use the "10-point system", it spares the feelings of the fighters, and especially new fighters. Remember, [the new fighters] just learning about competing, and we want it to be an enjoyable experience, as well as to all.

The 10-Point System is used instead of actual vote counts to hold down ill feelings.

Example: If we were displaying actual vote counts...
Imagine that you VE with 100+ people, and so does your opponent; but your scores is well below his/her score. The first instinct would be to "attack" the people exchanging the votes, E-mails would start to go out pointing fingers at his/her ve's accusing them of not voting.
Experienced site fighters who have competed before, or have been for a long time, know the quickest way to lose supporters is to "point fingers" about not voting.

Since we're on the subject of "points"...remember this one:
team leaders, co-leaders and assistant team leaders are NOT allowed to disclose actual vote counts to anyone; that includes fighters and other TSF staff members of The Site Fights.

In addition, we are we allowed to disclose e-mail addresses or ANY information about the voters. We respect and protect our members and site visitors as dutifully as possible.

      So...don't even ask.
