What is blind voting?

A Dragon's Tale A TSF Team

If you are a fighter, you must hear the phrase "Blind Voting" all the time! Isn't it about time you found out what it means? Blind Voting is when you vote for a site without taking a look at it first. Say you are at the Vote Exchange board. There are several people on the board looking for other fighters to vote exchange with. Most of them not only include their URL, but they also include their email address. What do you do? Do you write down the email address for later and then check out the site -or- do you think to yourself, "I'm in a hurry...they won't notice if I don't visit their site...I'll just email them and say that I visited their site (even though I didn't) and then ask for a vote exchange." The correct answer, as if you couldn't figure out, is to write down the email address for later and then check out their site. Here is an interesting fact: Most people who blind vote, usually do not vote for their supporters like they should!

What are the disadvantages of Blind Voting?

  • If you don't visit the site, you never know what you are voting for. What if there is something on that site that you do not agree with? Do you really want to be voting for something that you may not stand for?
  • You may miss out on seeing a really great site!
  • It is way uncool and unspirited to blind vote!
  • Don't you think it is unfair to be exchanging votes with someone when you have never given them the courtesy of visiting their site? They have probably visited yours. Visiting a possible supporters site shows that you care and its a great way to get to know the people you may be exchanging votes with!

How can I help stop Blind Voting?

It is hard to stop others from blind voting, but you CAN make a promise to yourself not to blind vote. Before asking someone for a vote exchange, visit their site, make sure you like what you are voting for, THEN email the possible supporter for a vote exchange. Be sure to sign their guest book, too. That way your future supporter will know that you have been there and that you are not a blind voter!

Do you agree that blind voting is unspirited?
