BANNERS:

Your site MUST display the team member banner and a Site Fights banner in order to participate!  You may use the Site Fights Approved banner or another Site Fights banner to link to the main URL.  To get your team banner visit THIS PAGE.   Select the banner from here and copy it to your hard drive.  DO NOT link to the banner on our server.   Display these banners in prominent locations on your pages, then link them back to the ring where you are fighting.  This is important because it makes it easier for potential voters to do just that.  If your server does not allow you to upload graphics, such as Expage, a text link to both The Site Fights and your voting booth is acceptable.  Sites not displaying a banner or a text link will be disqualified.  For more information on this and other requirements, check out the main Site Fights rules page HERE for more information.

If you wish, you may also create your own DJesters banner.  As long as it displays the team name, it is fine to do so.

You may also request a 100 x 100 pixel banner to be made by our Graphics Department. Please send your request to LadySusi with the color and text requested. Also if you have an image (non copyrighted) you wish to use, please include either the image or the location on your site of the image in your email. This banner will be needed when you enter the WarZone. It may also be used as a voting banner ans for signing guestbooks etc.

Vote banners are to be linked to the following URLs for the fighting rounds:

  DMan's Dome: http://www.thesitefights.com/team12/scores.html
  Warzone, Another Side: http://www.thesitefights.com/warzone/anothrv.htm
  DHarlequins's Ball:  http://www.thesitefights.com/team12/ball.html
  DMasquerade Parties:  http://www.thesitefights.com/team12/party.html
  DCavilier's Courtyards:  http://www.thesitefights.com/team12/courtyard.html

SPIRIT PAGE:

Being a DJester and a part of The Site Fights is great, so show everyone how much fun it can be by creating a Spirit Page on your site.  Enthusiasm is catching so show some spirit - shout it out by making up cheers telling everyone you're a DJester and proud of it.  If you want and expect people to take time to vote for you, you really should give them a reason to want to do just that.  Put some fun stuff on your page to encourage people to come and vote for you.  There are many different things you can adopt from the many teams, or even display awards that you win while competing in the Site Fights on your spirit page.  The only limitation is your imagination.  DJesters offer some backgrounds for use on spirit pages.  You can take a look at them HERE .  If you need help with cheers or a spirit page, our team Fairies and Wee Ones are there to assist you.

You can see a sample Spirit Page by checking out DHarlequin's Spirit .

SPIRIT STICK:

This  is of course a Spirit Stick.  On you go - take it and save it to your hard drive.  What is it for?  Well it's really a token for showing your teammates that even although you're out to beat them, you're still supporting them.  Sign their guestbooks and the guestbooks of opponents on other teams.  Drop a spirit stick into their guestbooks or in emails.  Most of all - wish them luck.  The spirit stick is a symbol of good will and good fun here at The Fights.

TEAM SPIRIT:

Team Spirit is also important and therefore any fighter who adds cheers and shouts to the Shout Out page will each get a  for every day that they cheer. Earning 3 jesters beside your name for demonstrating team spirit enables you to avoid being knocked out of the competition altogether if you don't earn a rematch or win your round.  You will come back into the team and compete in the DCavilier's Courtyard the following week.

I will be looking for Jesters who show lots of spirit, and honoring them by presenting awards. Each week we will give out a Shout, Spirit, and Site Award, for the most spirited cheers at Shout It Out, most spirit shown, and most diverse or improved site on the team, respectively. At the end of the month we will also name a Fighter of the Month for the Jester who has shown the most spirit during the month. Fighters must have been on the team for at least three weeks to be eligible for this award.

In addition to awards, bonus points will be added to your fighting score for showing spirit. For more details, click HERE.

VOTING:

Voting in the team rounds begins on Monday 12:00 AM EST and will finish the following Friday 11.59 PM EST.  THERE IS NO VOTING ON SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS* in the individual team rounds.  You will see your scores posted but no voting will take place.  The roster will be posted by noon on Sunday.  The roster page tells you where you will be fighting next.  It should give you about a day to change your links.  You can find the roster HERE

You can vote with as many dial up accounts as you have.  For example, if you have two dial up accounts, one with Dallas net and one with GTE, you can vote twice using each account once.  If your Internet Provider is AOL, you CANNOT use all six of those email accounts to vote because your ISP number will be the same.  There is no point in trying to get oodles of Hotmail accounts and the like.  WE DON'T COUNT THE EMAIL ADDRESSES - WE COUNT ISP NUMBERS.  Please put this information on your Spirit Page so that others will follow the rules.  Ballot box stuffing is not allowed and is something we don't expect from DJesters! DON'T FORGET TO VOTE FOR YOURSELF!!!

If you need additional voters and are interested in exchanging votes with other fighters, be sure to visit the
Site Fights Vote Exchange. You can find many fighters there willing to exchange votes with you.  Please remember that blind voting is not encouraged.  Visit each page and then decide if you wish to exchange votes with the site owner.  You will see some really great pages as well as build your supporters.

*If there is a tie score in DHarlequin's Ball on Friday  night, a tie breaker will be held on Saturday to decide which site advances to the Warzone.

PROGRESSION THROUGH THE RINGS:

You start in DCavilier's Courtyard, which is the qualifying bout.
From there you move up to one of DJesters' Masquerade Parties.
From the Masquerade Party you move up to DHarlequin's Ball, which is our main event.
From DHarlequin's Ball you move up to The Warzone - Another Side.
From The Warzone - Another Side you advance to The Dome.

Once you make it to The Dome, you must defend your title there for a total of three consecutive weeks in order to retire from the Site Fights an undefeated champion.  Champions will be asked to return in February to fight in The Site Fighters of the Year Tournament - a great honor!

If you do not advance from the Warzone or do not win in the Dome and return to defend your title and wish to restart, please email me as soon as possible so that I can add you back to the roster.  Depending on the timing, you may or may not have a week off between your bouts.

SCORING:
In DCavilier's Courtyard scoring is qualifing only.  If you qualify for the day, you will receive a  by your site name.  To advance to the DJesters' Masquerade Parties you need to have at least three (3) jesters for the week.

Scoring in the Masquerade Parties and DHarlequin's Ball is on a scale of 1 to 10.  The person getting the most votes for that day will get a 10, the next most number of votes a 9, and so forth.  At the end of the week, the person with the highest score moves into the next ring up.  Second and third place winners STAY in the same ring for a rematch.  Make sure that you check the score page on Saturday to see if you advance.  The rest are returned to the Courtyard.

Sites that remain in the Courtyard for three weeks in a row without advancing to the Masquerade Parties will be dropped from the roster.  This is done to ensure that fighters are still interested in participating. If you know you will be unable to vote for yourself, you can ask to go on hold.

HOW TO WIN:

A common question among fighters is how to successfully advance through the levels. Although there is no set formula, there are definitely ways to improve your chances. I've listed some of them here.

First, this is, at its core, a competition to determine the best website, so the best thing you can do is make a site that people want to vote for. It's alright to enter the Fights with an incomplete or mediocre site, but you should continue to improve it throughout your fighting career. If visitors to your site give you suggestions on how to improve, take them seriously... you may just win their vote and the vote of others. I can't give any general rules for how to make a good site, but when you are done designing, take a good look and ask yourself, "Would I want to vote for this site?" Be honest! If your answer is no, visitors won't either.

Second, your average web surfer doesn't know what The Site Fights is, how it works, or why you want to win. Place your vote banners in a prominent location on your site, so that your visitors can find them easily. Your site should include some text asking (NICELY) for people to vote for you and why. Try to make this explanation thorough yet concise; if you don't explain yourself visitors may not see the point in voting, but if you're too wordy your visitor may get bored before they finish reading it. Your page should also include when the voting booth is open, or your visitors may think they are supposed to vote only once a week, or on the weekend. Finally, try to update your voting link as soon after receiving your new ring assignment as possible. This shows your visitors that you really do care about TSF, and also ensures that you don't lose votes on Monday when early morning voters visit where you were last week, and find no one to vote for.

Third, get more visitors to your site. The Site Fights will help in that regard, but all of your opponents will be getting visitors from TSF as well. If you are not already on search engines, visit Yahoo and sign up to be placed on some. Search the web for sites like yours, and join webrings and link exchanges. This may sound trivial, but even the perfect site won't win if people can't find it.

Fourth, you can try Vote Exchanging. Also known as VE, this is where you and another fighter agree to vote for each other's site as well as your own, so that you both get one more vote than you would have otherwise. One good way to find people willing to VE is to visit the Vote Exchange board, but you can also find VEs by signing guestbooks or visiting Shout It Out, among other ways. However, I cannot emphasize enough that you should visit the sites you agree to vote for! Voting for sites without looking at them is called blind voting, and it is very unspirited. After all, do you really want to win on votes from people who never saw your site? Once you have VEs, remind them to vote on a regular basis. You should find out how your supporters like to be reminded (usually once a week or every day), and remind them that way if possible. Finally, since you want their vote, always honor your word and vote for who you agreed to.

Fifth, show your spirit! Putting a spirit page on your site further shows your visitors that you're really in to TSF, while visiting Shout It Out attracts TSF residents to your site. While in the team rounds your spirit can earn you points that can directly help you win. You won't receive spirit points in the Warzone and Dome, although I hope you'll show your spirit while there anyway. If you have spirit you'll also have fun, even if you don't win.

Finally, be patient! It takes a long time even for first-rate sites to collect a pool of constant, steady voters. Very few sites make it to the Dome their first time through, while hardly any win the Dome on their first try. Also, remember that even if you have a thousand friends voting for you, your opponent could have two thousand, so never assume that your friends are betraying you. Hang in there, and use the small victories as a morale boost. It'll take some hard work, but sooner or later you could be the next Site Fights Champion!

MISCELLANEOUS:

If you need additional help, please visit the Sanctuary.  There you will be able to request help with your html, spirit, or whatever you need.  We are here to help and will do so gladly.

Lastly, always remember we are here to win, YES, but first and foremost we are here to have FUN and make new friends.

I remind all our DJesters that we support and encourage all our team members but our support is especially needed for those who make it to the Warzone and Dome.  So get up to the Warzone and  Dome each and every day and help out your teammates.  They are expecting and indeed deserve our support while they're up there.  It may be your turn next.

I am here most of the time so if you need anything at all - CALL ME!!!  Or contact my assistant, Lemmy Koopa.  We are here to help you all we can.

Well I guess that's it (for now) - you'd better go find your banners, get those Spirit Pages up, and make sure all your links and graphics are working as you're about to be swamped with visitors.  Get your thinking caps on and write your cheers and post them at Shout It Out .  You may even want to have a go at winning the coveted Spirit Award, and if you do manage to win it then make sure you let me know and you will also receive an automatic 10 points that day. When you've done all that, have a drink and visit the other sites to get to know them.

I thank you for choosing DJesters Royale as your team.  Good luck to you all!!!  Let's get out there, have some FUN, and make some new friends!
