Our Story
A long time ago, back when the earth was green and Nokia hadn't sold a
billion cellular phones, a girl called Spoo thought of a way to promote DBoard, but
never got the idea off the ground.. The year was 1990-something, the place
was the Starfighters message board.
Years later a boy called Ey8bb came along, excited about dboard and filled with the
optimism of youth. He came up with an idea, very similar to the girl's idea
(although he did not know this at the time), and he tried to get people's attention,
tell them about this idea. And someone was listening..
D'Reena, assistant of the Starfighters
team, had heard his shout and was listening very intently. She let him in on a
secret. Back when the earth was green a girl had came up with a similiar idea,
but didn't have the resources to do anything about it. Now the situation was
different, though, and this boy had a fighting chance.
A great planning began. People wandered in from all the teams (well, a couple
at least, people who usually hang at the starfighters board) and we
discussed what we wanted done, how it should be done, and what extra fun
stuff we wanted. Soon we had lots of ideas and a plan. But how to get it
started?
A few emails to DMan later we were making progress. Thanks to DReena's
assistant status at The Starfighters the group could begin their project
there, as a mini-group part of the Starfighters team, courtesy of the
team leader DStarla. There was much hope for the future too, because if the work
was successful we could possibly go site fights wide too. We were all excited
and built "The Messengers" at the Starfighters.
D'Reena became the co-leader of the group, leading it together with the manly boy, ey8bb.
Jedi joined them as their graphics wiz, and so the leading group was formed.
The three good friends, together, showing the way.
Soon fighters began joining and although the member count was small, the
messengers were still active. Bobbyjean was selected the first "member of
the month" and she was the first to shout it out for DMessengers too.
Then September 11th passed and a nation was struck with grief. After a while
we couldn't get a hold of ey8bb as much anymore, then his email started
bouncing. He lived in a bordering country to Afghanistan, so DReena worried
about him, and his net access was limited. At this time D'Reena was also having trouble getting net access,
and Jedi had much school business to take care of. Then one day we got
the news.. (July 2002) DStarla had talked with DMan, we got the group Site Fights wide,
we were on our own now!
D'Reena quit as Starfighters assistant to concentrate on DMessengers,
but with only she and Jedi working on the pages the building went slowly.
Lack of internet access and much school work made everything slow down for
months. Time passed, cobwebs started appearing everywhere, and DMessengers
were still not truly active. The year 2002 passed, a new year 2003 came
to into being. Members joined, members left, new members joined again.. 2004
arrived, DMessengers were still a small group. And so time crept on, The Site Fights was
wandering on its path more like an old man rather than a youth, until one blessed year something changed..
In 2007 The Site Fights felt an energy rising, the spirit of spring was in the air (even though it was autumn!) and staff and
members gathered together to reclaim TSF's glory days! The old DBoard was discarded
and we were given a new shiny modern DBoard! DMessengers are still a small group,
but the future is bright, as bright as can be!
Special thanks to
DMan, for making this possible
DStarla and DGenesis, they made us a part of their team
Freaksrus, Sunny, Eppie, bobbyjean.. for all the help!
The members of dmessengers, you make the world go 'round
ey8bb and Jedi, for having been the best staff! I love you guys!
