Each week, besides all the Pnuematic Interoffice Mail
that seems to be piled high on my desk when I arrive here at the office,

(Please see "SuspendA'd Sentences" - 5/18/97 "Sit Fights Sleeps Begin!)
I get an equal amount of E-Mail from up and coming ContendA's
asking me to visit their sites for a review as well as
applying for the coveted[?] GOLDEN SUSPENDA AWARD.

An exboxer friend of mine told me a great way to check
on correspondence that you send out is to send one copy to yourself.
If it arrives, you know that the rest will have gotten through also.

All of the above rambling is by way of an apology to those of you
who have not received the latest E-Mails I have sent you.
Another Embarrassing moment for DSuspendA!

(If you didn't receive it, you know who you are.)
The reason is the E-Mails were all returned with a notice
"This E-Mail cannot be delivered because of
INSUFFICIENT POSTAGE!!!"

[From the NY Times, Monday, April 28,1998 - Laurence Zuckerman]
It's a New Brand of E-Mail
Companies Want to Turn Computers Into Postage Meters

Great moments in United States postal technology have had
little in common with Internet time.

First came the stamp, in 1847. That sufficed until 1920,
when the first postage meters enabled businesses to save
time and tongues by printing postage directly onto their mail.

Now, if some entrepreneurs have their way, the Internet
will provide the first consumer postal breakthrough in
77 years by allowing the masses to turn their personal
computers and printers into postage meters.

Later this year, the E-Stamp Corporation,
a strat-up company in Palo Alto, Calif., hopes to begin
field-testing the first PC-based postage meter. And vowing
not to be left behind is Pitney Bowes Inc., the
3.9 billion giant that dominates the postage meter business,
which is hard at work on a similar product.

(I can just picture the lines of people at the Post Office
groaning about how heavy their computer was to carry there.)
