I sat in my chair, paralyzed with fear -
in a state of panic trying to figure a way out of my dilemma.
[Please see
6/1/97 SCRAPBOOK PUZZLE UNRAVELS!!!]
I needed someone to come up with the right answer
to this puzzle so I could get back to work, or non-work,
as it's affectionately referred to around here.
SUDDENLY D'BELL RANG!
(No!!! No!!!...Too soon...
I wuzn't ready to go another round just yet)
D'Bell rang again and I realized it wuz just my doorbell.
I went over to the door and asked "who is it?",
hoping beyond hope that it wuzn't Dman.
"It's Dmaestro and DPatrol Leader, SuspendA."
We're looking for Dman and we'd like to talk to you".
I opened the door and let them in.
They said they were on their way to Lady Char's
and thought just by chance I'd seen Dman.
I said "(Thankfully), No, I hadn't seen him."
I explained my puzzle problem to them
showing them DScrapbook and Dpieces.
Joanie said, "Piece of cake, SuspendA.
It looks like the pieces should be like so...
1-D, 2-C, 3-E, 4-B, 5-F and 6-A."
DMaestro, it seems is an expert on Boxing History, added
"Joanie's right..Picture "A" goes with caption 6,
that's the Great Brown Bomber,
Joseph Louis Barrow,
better known as Joe Louis...
still holds the record with 25 title defenses.
Picture "B" goes with Caption 4,
that's Genleman Jim Corbett
standing there.
It's a jolly good thing Dboy chose this picture
because if you saw it from behind
you'ld see his biscuits
poking out of those shorts".
(I quickly felt behind me, checking my shorts for biscuits.)
He continued, "Picture "C" goes with Caption 2.
That's the
Orchid Man, Geoges Carpentier,
former Light-Heavyweight Champ
who ran afoul of
Jack Dempsey in his quest for the Heavyweight gold.
Oh how the ladies loved this guy!.
Picture "D" goes with Caption 1.
That is, of course, The Little Tramp, Charlie Chaplin
who could, in fact, probably whip 9 out of the 10
ranked heavyweights today.
Picture "E" goes with Caption 3.
That's,Jess Willard, the man who held the title
between the reigns of two of the ring's greatest ever,
Jack Johnson and Jack Dempsey.
Picture "F" goes with Caption 5.
That's the "Manassa Mauler" himself, the great Jack Dempsey,
who lost the title to Gene Tunney, in the only
modern heavyweight championship scheduled for only 10 rounds.
He failed in his attempt to regain the title due to
the fabled "long count", during which Tunney was on the canvas
for around 15 seconds, but was not counted out because Dempsey
failed to obey the new rule which required him to go to the
neutral corner in the event of a knockdown.
There you have it.
Your career as as a Journalist extrordinare is safe,
at least until DC and I track you down!", he concluded.
I thanked them profusely for solving DPuzzle,
mounted the photos back in their places and turned the page.
ARGHHH!!!! NO... NOT AGAIN!
We all looked at the pictures, side by side on the page,
scratching our heads with this new puzzlement!

They say that when you spend a lot of time with someone you begin
to look like them and DFamily spent so much time with Dman that
without their hats and equipment there wuz a very strong family resemblence.
We couldn't figure out which stuff on the picnic table belonged to who?
