The buzzer signalling the break before Round Nine
sounded and I felt better. I blew off my first article
to DRose [See
5/25/97]
and I wuz no longer procrastinating.
While this
new sense of accomplishment wuz still in me, I felt an
uplifting resolve to tackle all the things I wuz
putting off til later.
Now wuz later, or something like that!
It wuz time for me to look at the strange album on my desk.
[See
4/13/97 'NEIGH, NEIGH,...YOU SAY]

Well, I'll be ...You couldA knocked me over with a feather
[Actually, that's how a lot of my ring opponents did beat me.]
Dman kept a scrapbook when he wuz little and I found it!
ANOTHER SCOOP FOR DSUSPENDA!
I couldn't contain my excitement and threw my arms up
in a conditioned reflex of a WINNAH!!!...
Unfortunately I lost my grip on the scrapbook...
it spun out of my hands, spiralling towards the ceiling.
It all became another of those horrifying Hollywood
moments when everything goes extra slow and you are
forced to watch a disaster in the making -
and have no way
to stop it or alter its course.
It reached the top of its upward arc and then
came spinning down, end over end to the ground.
I tried my old soccer goalie leap, trying to catch it
in midair, arms extended full out, before it hit the floor.
ARGHHHH!!! I missed!
[That move never worked in soccer either]
There wuz a loud thud causing a mushroom shaped dust cloud
as big as an A-Bomb to form and a group of faded pictures
to fly off of an opened page of the album.
When the dust settled I picked up the album, the pictures
and the pages as quickly as I could so I could assess the damage.
I held a bunch of loose pictures in one hand -
the album and a loose page in the other.
My excitement had caused me to be in another embarrassing situation.
The page had some notes, printed in a childs handwriting.
Dboy wuz a big fan of early movies, prizefighing ones in particular.
He had mounted a set of Boxing Movie Trade cards on the pages.
They were arranged with the fighter's picture card above
and who they were and what picture they were in below.
They were all Champions (Real or Cinematic)
and a note at the top of the page said
"Someday when I'm grown up and am known as Dman,
I will have my own arena's and have a competition
where dpeople will decide who the Champions are."
I wuz in real trouble!! What could I do?
I didn't know who these ex champs were.
How wuz I going to reconstuct the page?
Suppose Dman came in and wanted to look at it?
My job looked verrrry shaky unless I fixed this mess!!!
Which of the following titles do the pictures match up with?
1. 1915 - "The Champion" starring Charles Chaplin
2. 1930 - "Hold Everything" starring Georges Carpentier
3. 1919 - "The Heart Punch" starring Jess Willard
4. 1894 - "The First Fight Film" starring James Corbett
5. 1924 - "Fight and Win" starring Jack Dempsey
6. 1937 - "Spirit of Youth" starring Joe Louis
