Who's
Dman - Issue 9: Interview with Lady Char
Thank
you for the tremendous response to Last week's interview with Dfairy.
I know you'll enjoy this one just as much. I did get Lady Char pinned
down long enough to answer a few questions. Now you may be thinking, is
there going to be any rhyme or reason to the order I do these interviews,
probally not. I'll just pick on out of the air each week. B^). But Lady
Char has been a team leader for quite some time and the Knights are one
of the most spirited teams. It was heart wrenching when I found out she
was leaving Dfamily. But she's back to all of our Delight (or is it Dlight...hmmm),
and of course deserves much attention to answer those questions you want
answered. So here she is, LADY CHAR...WOO~HOO.

DUncle |
When
did you become involved with the Site Fights? |
 |
| Lady
Char |
January
97. I signed up after receiving an email(from an unknown) who suggested
I join. It was a bit scary but wild with excitement!I just wanted
to make it out of the first ring, I had no idea I'd go on to retire
from the Dome undefeated! |
| DUncle |
How
did you become Lady Char? |
| Lady
Char |
I
was competing in the Dome, Dman said he needed team leaders,we talked,
and here I am. I had had such a wonderful time, I wanted everyone
to experience it, so I opened the Knights on Thursday after having
to step down on Monday. |
| DUncle |
Being
a Team Leader, What are your day to day duties? |
| Lady
Char |
Welcome
new fighters, answer their questions, update scores, prepare ballots,
encourage fighters, and hopefully help the fighters have a rewarding
experience. As a leader, I feel it's my duty to help the contenders
understand the rules, and assist them in anyway I can. |
| DUncle |
What
do you like most about being a Team Leader? |
| Lady
Char |
Meeting
new people, seeing new sites, and contributing something back to the
Site Fights that gave me such a wonderful experience.Often I receive
an email from a fighter, praising the SiteFights for such an exciting
experience and the fun they had. Then I know we are succeeding and
I am recharged for another week!! |
| DUncle |
How
do you feel that you've helped to shape the SiteFights? |
| Lady
Char |
This
question took me by surprise and I had to take time to reflect...
wondering if I had really contributed anything. I have suggested a
few things which were incorporated into the fights... like having
six day events instead of seven. I've made or edited a few pages and
graphics. The original DSpirit and myself got the Dome trophy started
(upuntil then, there was none). But I think the real contribution is
in upholding the integrity of the Site Fights, and supporting fighters
(throughthe Knights)to experience the fun and friendships that the
fights offer. |
| DUncle |
How
many people compete ever week in the Knights? |
| Lady
Char |
It
varies. We usually have 8-12 new fighters a week. When the team is
in full swing we usually have an average of 36 fighters in 5 events.
|
| DUncle |
What
brought you back from your breif Hiatus? |
| Lady
Char |
I
love the team and the Site Fights. But with personal duties increasing
and no assistant, I became overloaded and had to give something up.
Now with two co-leaders, Lady Debi and Sir Douglas, we share the duties
and tasks. These two are great and I am so fortunate to have them
as part of the Knights team. |
| DUncle |
How
has the Site Fights changed since you became partof Dfamily? |
| Lady
Char |
I
believe there was five other teams when I began..now we have sixteen,
quite a growth. When I first began, Dfairy was dusting the sites. While
I was competing in the Dome, she began the fairy team andI soon signed
up. I think there was 4 of us then. Also DPatrol was created and I
was a deputy for a short while. Since then, both have grown to hundreds
of helpers. (These two groups do a tremendous service and deservemuch
praise and credit. It's not always as easy as it appears). The fun
and help pages have been added, as well as the chat, the post card
shop, the messageboards and others. Most every team has added a guestbook(thanks
Nick),prizes have been added for the Dome winner, and the Site Fightsare
on the way to becoming a household name!! |
| DUncle |
Is there anything you'd like to see changed at the SiteFights? |
| Lady
Char |
I'd love to see everyone win the Dome *grin* but we know that's not
possible. What would I like to see changed? Hmmm.. one thing I miss
is the closeness of Dfamily when we were small. I quickly became friends
with most. We still have a group of super people, but there's just
not enough time to get to know everyone on the level we use to. I'd
really like to see all fighters understand the rules and comply. Most
do, but a few seem to never read them. |
| DUncle |
In
your mind, Who's Dman? |
| Lady
Char |
Dman
is the father of the Site Fights. He's really a cool guy and cares
for the leaders as well as the fighters. He's the glue that holds
the Site Fights together. He'll often take on a problem to spare the
leaders from having to deal with it. He really cares for the people
involved and always gives the credit of the fights to the people.
I admire his ability to remain cool no matter what the situation.Dman
is the man with the vision... and the ability to make it happen!! |
Thank
you so much Lady Char. As you can see. The Being a team leader requires
a lot. It can take from you, and add to your character. Not everyone is
vut out to be a team leader. I've got to say, Lady Char deserves a hand.
Stop by the Knight. See what they've been up to. Sign their guestbook
and tell Lady Char and her two assistants, I said Hi. And for Next week.
Lady Char made reference to a man Named Nick. Hmmm.. who is this elusive
person. Well find out next week.
Next
issue, DUncle interviews Nick, one of TSF's "tech guys"...
