Who's Dman - Issue 15B: Interview With Dgeneral

Next we bring you Dgeneral, formerly know as Dspecific. The defenders like many of the teams has been around for a long time and seen many changes. SO I'd asked Dgeneral about all of this. Here's what he had to say.

(editors note: This issue was broken into two parts. You are in part one of issue 15... which was the second half of the Husbands and Wives feature -- Duncan)

DGeneral was Team Leader of the former team, The Defenders

DUncle When did you become involved with the Site Fights?
Dgeneral November 1997
DUncle During your time in the Site Fights, how have things changed?
Dgeneral The growth over the last 6 months or so has been unbelievable, and by all accounts in my opinion is set to continue.
DUncle Who started with the Site Fights First, you or your wife?
Dgeneral My wife entered her homepage in The Fights and was on the Pharaohs Team, she got to the Warzone and then after that she was made Co-leader of The Pharaohs by DKing and she became DQueen.
DUncle How did it affect you and your wife when only one of you was involved?
Dgeneral When I wasn't involved "officially" I was assisting occasionally with the score updates etc. for The Pharaohs - but I was hooked and I wanted to do more
DUncle How does it affect you now that both of you are involved?
Dgeneral It is great, we help each other out with our respective teams, and yes there is an element of "inhouse" competition, like when The Pharaohs got a fighter to The Dome and my darling wife did a little happy dance around our living room sticking her tongue out at me chanting - and I quote - "NAA, NAA, NAA, NAA, NAA, WE MADE IT TO THE DOME, NAA, NAA, NAA, NAA, NAAAAAA", then you better believe I went flat out trying to get a Defender to The Dome and within one week The Defenders had their first DMan Dome representative and then it was my turn to say "NAA, NAA, NAA, NAA, NAA, WE MADE IT TO THE DOME, NAA, NAA, NAA, NAA, NAAAAAA". I think this is known as "friendly rivalry"
DUncle What do the two of you do in your "Spare" time away from the Site Fights?
Dgeneral We have 3 kids, so apart from each other, the kids and The Site Fights - WE HAVE NO LIFE, (and right now I wouldn't have it any other way).
DUncle How have the Defenders changed over the past year and a half?
Dgeneral The Defenders were originally called DMystic's Defenders, DMystic left The Fights in about September 97 and when I asked DMan about the possibility of running a team he allowed me to take over as leader of the team and the name was changed to The Defenders, with the name change, this meant an entire new set of pages/graphics/banners etc. had to be made so that certainly was the biggest change, since then the team has continued to grow along with the rest of the fights, in the last 6 months or so I have also been helped with running the team by The Defenders Co-Leader, DMajor and Team Assistant, DRecruit.
DUncle Do you feel the Defenders have any friendly Rivals?
Dgeneral I better say that the rivalry between The Pharaohs and The Defenders is friendly and now that DMajor has just started her own team (DFriendz Playground), I am sure there will also be some friendly rivalry there.
DUncle What plans do you have in the future for the Defenders?
Dgeneral We have already achieved two of the targets I set for the team at the beginning of this year, getting a fighter to The Dome and winning DFairy's Team Spirit Award, the next target is a Defender wins in The Dman Dome.
DUncle In your mind, Who's Dman?
Dgeneral DMan is the one very special person who's dream brought together a whole bunch of very special people affectionately known as DFamily and for one man to do that on the internet which has so many negatives is truly an amazing feat.

Thank you so much Dgeneral. As you can see from both interviews this week, Dfamily and family can both be part of the site fights. When there is something you enjoy, you just make time for it. Some pretty incredible stories about shuffling between family and Dfamily. A great big THANK YOU to both Dhusbands and Dwives for these terriffic stories.

D'Golf match.
Standing inside of Dclub house, everyone was huddled togetehr. Nick's Knockout artists were still outside. They'd all been knocked out. Guess that's how they'd gotten their name. I followed the trail of spirit fairy dust to find Dsuspenda. He was trying to detach his suspenda from the bathroom door. After getting him undone, we went towards Dclub door to look outside. Small robots we're retreiving all the golf balls that'd been accidently released. Nick was busy putting the finishing touches to the system to ensure that another break out didn't occur.

Dman went back towards the curtian. Nick joined him. "And nwo, Let the FNU begin!!" Dman gave the string a pull and aside went the curtian. The first hole was presented to us. Dsuspenda and I couldn't beleive our eyes. The first hole was a par 5. Nothing but sand. and the hole was atop a pyramid. a ramp led the way up there. This hole was based on the team of Dqueen's Pharoahs. Putting through sand was going to be tough. Dman and Nick approached Dsuspenda and myself. "Let's filp a coin to decide who goes frist." Dman produced a large silver dollar with his face on both sides. "Nick and I have heasd" Dman flipped the coin and Dsuspenda shook his pants to releive himslef of some fairy dust. This dust got on the coin and changed it. "TAILS!?!?!" Dsuspenda and I were up first.

We would take turns putting. Dsuspenda would go first. He placed the Site Fightelist down and prepared his put. He look up and down the sand. There didn't appear to be a direct route to the hole. Dsuspenda looked at me, gave me a wink (not sure why) and turned around!!. He raised his putter high over his head and smashed the ball with all his might. Everyone had to duck to avoid being hit. the ball went straight for Dclub house, up the gutter and out the top. One of Dcap's Eagles was soaring over head and caught the ball and dropped it on the top of the pyramid. Guess I'll have to interview Dcap so I can thank him. the ball was just inches from the hole. The crowd quietly applauded. Dsuspenda bowed and allowed Dman to take his turn.

Dman stepped up to the hole. He palced his ball down, lowered his gold putter, took a deep breath and sent the ball on it's way. The ball rolled gently over the sand and slowly up the ramp. when it was about to crest the top of the ramp, it rolled it's way back down. Dman (ever the proffosional) lifted his putter and walked back to sit by Nick. My hands were sweating as it was my turn. I climed the Pyramid and saw that we were right next to the hole. One short stroke dropped the ball.

Nick was up next. Their ball sat at the bottom of the ramp. It had been half burried in the sand. Nick's silver putter reflected the 60Watt sun right into my eyes, I missed what happened. I heard soft clapping. I knew that we were tied. This was going to be a tough battle.

In the next issue, Who's Dman? interviews Dkitten...
