Who's Dman - Issue 14B: Interview With DQueen

This week is a special week. I bring you part one of a two part series of Husbands and Wives.
(editor's note: the two issues, 14 and 15 have been broken into 2 parts each, so the husband and wives feature is actually 4 "issues" now. You're now on the second half of part 1 -- Duncan)

Dqueen has been around the Site Fights for almost as long as I can remember. If memory serves once again, about the time I was just getting into the Site Fights, Dking and Dqueen were having a changing of the gaurd. Dqueen has helped form the team into quite a formadible opponent.

DQueen is the Team Leader of a former team, The Pharohs.

DUncle When did you become involved with the Site Fights?
DQueen Hmmmm middle of 1997 I think. I signed up to fight with the first available team and was assigned to DKing's Pharaohs.
DUncle Are you the first team leader for the pharoahs, if not, who was?
DQueen Nope, DKing was the leader of the Pharaohs at that time.
DUncle How have the Phaorahs changed?
DQueen Hmm, well let me see, we have had quite a few fighters reach DMan Dome *grin*. We've won the Team Spirit Award a few times and a good few of our fighters have won the Spirit and DLoudest Cheer Awards which is great. I think we've continued to grow along with the Site Fights as a whole. I've tried to incorporate some of the great ideas from other teams and we have the Page Guardian adoption agency and the brand new Made With Spirit Campaign just getting off the ground.
DUncle How do you and Dgeneral manage your time with each of you running a team?
DQueen No worries there. DGeneral is a shift worker and I'm a stay at home mom so I make sure I have all my pages updated and my mail sorted through first and then he gets the computer while I'm cooking dinner *s*.
DUncle Do you and Dgeneral ever work out things together with your teams?
DQueen Sometimes he'll come up with a great idea and try it out first and if it works then I'll incorporate it into the Pharaohs and vice versa. It's great having someone to sound out ideas with first. I can always be assured that if the idea is lousy he's going to tell me *Grin*.
DUncle How did you feel when Dgeneral started with the Site Fights?
DQueen I was really pleased. I think it was a case of 'if you can't beat 'em - join 'em!' *smile*. I was co-leader of the Pharaohs at the time when he sounded out DMan about taking a team or starting a new team. In the same week, he was asked to take over The Defenders and DKing asked me to take over the Pharaohs and we were both delighted.
DUncle How has both of you being with the site fights changed your relationship?
DQueen To be truthful, to be a Site Fights' team leader does take up a lot of your time and I'm sure some spouses would get fed up with the amount of time it does take so at least we don't have that problem. Before The Site Fights - we were always online anyway in our free time. We have 3 year old twins and a 1 year old too so we don't get to go out much *smile*. It has also given us a common interest - before we got involved I had hobbies that I enjoyed and so did hubby but we didn't really have anything that interested us both so it's great now having TSF.
DUncle What do you have planned for the Pharoahs in the future?
DQueen Hmmm well that would be telling!! *grin*. Seriously though, I'm planning to get a fighter to the Dome and keep them there for longer than a week!! *hehehe*
DUncle How hard is it to manage your time between your family and The Site Fights?
DQueen It's really quite easy.....my sons are still small enough and have an afternoon sleep so because of the time difference between Sydney and TSF I'm able to get online during the day and do what has to be done and then hubby gets on at night when they are in bed. I also have great co-workers in DVizier, DJoser and Lady Serenity who are always willing to take over if something comes up. I definitely believe that the Pharaohs are going places and it's all because of the tremendous team work and spirit that our group of leaders have.
DUncle In your mind, Who's Dman?
DQueen For one strange moment there I had a flashback to The Wizard of Oz where they find out that the Almighty One is just an ordinary little guy sitting behind all his computer equipment *grin*.....seriously though, DMan is anything but ordinary.....he's the one that said "If I build it - they will come!!!" and so he did!!! We should all take a leaf out of his book and grab hold of our dreams and make them happen.

If I only had Dbrain, Dheart, Dnerve... oh sorry.. reminds me. Can you guess Duncle's Birth year?? With this little wizard of Oz trivia. I was born the day Dorothy died. So there you have it. The wives have their say. But in 2 weeks time we'll hear from the husbands.... or will we.. hmmmmm....

More Preparation for D'Golf:
Before Suspenda arrived, he sent me a message via Dcarrier piegon. The message was as follows

Duncle,

I realize that this Golf Match is all in good fun but
Dman, a man who is well known for his typos may have gotten us all in
trouble.

He wrote a memo to DNick about the match and typed a "U" instead
of an "O" in golf. It came out reading "DNIck this Gulf War is really
heating up and I think we should get into battle gear for this thing. I have
some secret weapons up my sleeve to help us win the conflict. More
later...Dman"

Now the pentagon is watching The Site Fights very closely and the Warzone
is under a blockade.
This of course got me very concerned. Now we not only did we have Dman and Nick to deal with, but the whole army. This was gonna be a tougher battle than I'd thought.

Dsuspenda Joined me after a couple of days practicing. I was puttering my time away when he arrived wearing his best plaid Knickers and of course his suspenda. I was baffeled by the plate he'd brought with him. Upon it he had bagels, rolls, tea. I was about to get concerned until I saw the putter dragging behind him. He was ready to putt his way to victory. After some off color comments and swinging his club like Old Babe Ruth, I managed to get him settled down enough to swing at the ball.

He steadied his stance, lowered his putter and looked down the course. He was ready. a slow steady stroke and off the ball went. Over the first hill, over the second, bounced off the wall, it was headed towards the hole.. I couldn't contain myself. The ball fell INTO THE CUP...WOO~HOO.. We COULD pull this off. I began to jump up and down. Dsuspenda backed away. I calmed myself.

Before we lost our edge it was time to head off to the great course Dman had built. I was getting nervous. It was nearing dark and Dsuspenda and I walked towards the gate..... Dlions, Dtigers, Dbears... Oh My.. Thunder rolled in Dskye as we approached. Dman and Nick waited out front for us, the gate just slightly cracked. Dman had his gold putter and Nick had his Silver one. Made the second hand special in my hand feel paltry. Did we really have a chance.. only time would tell the tale...... oooooo~ooooooo

In the next issue(15a), Who's Dman? interviews Taz(Tsali) and Dgeneral (in 15b)...
