Who's
Dman - Issue 14A: Interview With Sarina
This week
is a special week. I bring you part one of a two part series of Husbands
and Wives.
(editor's note: the two issues, 14 and 15 have been broken into 2 parts
each, so the husband and wives feature is actually 4 "issues"
now. -- Duncan)
The Husbands
have decided to let the ladies go first (well not really but don't tell
them that). So this week we get two team leaders who are not only wives,
but team leaders. After rough days of counting votes, they must move from
the computer to allow the men of the house to sit and do their duties.
OK, so maybe it doesn't go quite like that. But I decide to find out exactly
what does go on between the teams and the people who run them. Sarina
and Dqueen were nice enough to take time out of their busy schedules and
allow me to but my nose in their business. So while the men prepare their
defense, here's this weeks interviews.
Sarina
is the Team Leader of a former team, The Darksbane Dragons.

When
did you become involved with the Site Fights? |
 |
| Sarina |
In
April of 1997. I was involved with the group known as the Emperor's
Hammer, and they were always telling me that I should put Blackmoon
Rising into the Site Fights. I couldn't dream of it though, because
I didn't think my stuff would be good enough. But, finally, they talked
me into it, and I joined. Started working as Spirit Fairy MoonRose
and Patrol Deputy Blackmoon right off.. went through the fights straight
through, on Lady Char's Knights and retired from the Dome in June
of 97. Kept on working as a fairy and deputy until the Dragons were
born on August 1st. |
| DUncle |
What
was your experience with the Site Fights like up to the Site Fight
of the year? |
| Sarina |
Hectic.
From the get go, I was always doing something or other to get more
and more attention to the Dragons and to the Fights in general. I
think the Dragons is most likely the fastest team that ever came up
completely. Dman offered the team on a Thursday, accepted on Friday,
the HTML went up on Saturday and Sunday, and on Monday we opened.
The Pharoahs had shut down temporarily so he handed me all their fighters.
So, not only did we come up fast, but we had a full team load right
from the start. The Haunted Hunt, Holiday Hunt, and Dear Santa programs
took up a lot of time as well.. and by the time that Christmas was
over, it was time for the SFOTY Tourney.. boy what a blur that was
:) |
| DUncle |
How
have the Dragons changed since you started them? |
| Sarina |
We've
grown by leaps and bounds. We've gone from 2 Nests and 3 Caverns up
to 3 Nests and 6 Caverns. I think the biggest change of all is that
we're all one big family within DFamily. We are constantly in chat
with each other talking about this or that.. ROARING at each other,
or bouncing ideas off one another. In the beginning, I kept to myself
and did all the work myself. They say that it always made me seem
intimidating to them, or scary. But, now that I hang out with them
on icq constantly, and share the work with my huge staff, I think
we all get along better now. I'm more real to fighters now, and we
just keep GROWING AND GROWING... |
| DUncle |
How
do you and Tsali manage your time with each of you running a team?
|
| Sarina |
LOL..
He preaches at me that I hog the computer. Which, I guess I do, but
I'm home more often than he is. Usually, he works on his stuff when
I'm asleep or we sit here together and work on his stuff. I guess
you could say its just something that we have in common now. I help
him as much as I can. Work up totem certificates, score for him if
he isn't feeling well.. that sort of thing. But he does the same for
me too. |
| DUncle |
Do
you and Tsali ever work out things together with your teams? |
| Sarina |
Well..
most of the time its more of us discussing things with the Braves
rather than the Dragons. I tend to work out things with the Dragons..
with the Dragon Staff... Mainly Crystal Dragon. I don't know what
I'd do without her :). But, Tsali and I discuss things with the Braves
on and off. I've been helping the newer Managers withthings along
the way, giving them advice and whatnot. |
| DUncle |
How
did you feel when Tsali started with the Site Fights? |
| Sarina |
He
was actually involved with the Fights before Tsali's Braves started.
Way back when the Dragons started, he was "Dragon Lord" who was like
my .. behind the scenes.. assistant. When he started the Braves, I
was happy for him. I'm actually the one that spoke to Dman about it.
He and I sat down together and came up with the premise for the team
he was going to make, I made some of the things for his team. I was
happy for him. He laughed at me and told me within a year's time he
was going to blow the Dragons off the map, but LOL.. I dunno.. we'll
see. |
| DUncle |
How
has both of you being with the site fights changed your relationship? |
| Sarina |
Its
gotten him more involved with what I like to do now. I don't think
that websites and html much mattered to him before like it does now..
I live for this stuff. I don't think he understood the adoration I
had for it before, but does now. So.. I think its helped some. Now
as for my relationship with sleep.. ahhh.. LOL.. what's sleep? |
| DUncle |
What
do you have planned for the Dragons in the future? |
| Sarina |
Oh
my, if you could see my planbook. I have all sorts of neat things
planned for the Dragons.. and the Site Fights in general between now
and January. Lots and Lots of things.. going to have a birthday celebration
for the Dragons in August, more special holiday dragons are coming,
I have 2 major hunts in the works, and a few other cool things here
and there *grin*. I won't tell all my plans cause then it would ruin
the surprise. |
| DUncle |
How
many ideas have you stolen from Tsali before he could use them..B^)?
|
| Sarina |
I
think you have that question reversed. Its more like how many has
Tsali stolen from me. If he ever has an idea, he doesn't tell me about
it. Always says, "its a secret". But, hey, if anyone wants to copy
something the dragons are doing, so be it. Long as the fighters are
happy and it helps the fights.. doesn't really matter who came up
with an idea. Like the adoption programs. After Adopt a Dragon hit,
everyone started having adoption programs. Its helped the fights I
think. Not only do people get these cute little things for their webpages,
but its giving a link back to us and that brings more people here.
So, everyone wins in the end. Long as everyone is happy. That's what
counts. |
| DUncle |
In
your mind, Who's Dman? |
| Sarina |
Well,
to me, Dman is the big brother I never had. He has given us this wonderful
place for all of us to come together and have fun. If you really sit
down and think about it, how many wonderful people would we have all
have missed out on if it were not for the Site Fights? How many people
have had their spirits lifted and gotten self confidence because of
the Fights? I know of at least one person.. me. So, to me, "Who's
Dman"? To me, Dman is the guy that we should all be thanking for giving
us so much. Hmm.. Kinda like Santa Clause, huh? *wink* |
Thank
you so Much Sarina. Forgive me while I ramble here, but let me just say
a few things about Sarina. If memory serves, Last year when Sarina was
competing in the Dome. Her competitor (the name slips me) Was in the geocities
help forum (you might remember it). This person had asked for my help
with her page and invited me to vote for her in something called the site
fights. I did that and wen ton to sign her guestbook, letting her know
I'd done so. In her guestbook I saw an entry for Blackmoon Rising. I wandered
all over this site and loved what I'd seen. I decide that I'd voted for
the wrong site and voted for this one and signed the guestbook letting
her know I'd done so. I'd gotten a response in my own guestbook thanking
me and inviting me to join the fun of the Site Fights. I didn't jump in
feet first, but got my feet wet and finally signed up. So Thank you Sarina
for introducing me to the Site Fights. If you'd like to hear more about
how I'd gotten started with the Site Fights, drop me a line and let me
know..B^)...WOO~HOO.
